When my husband and I decided to move in together last year we were engaged but not yet married. The timing of it made sense, though, since neither of us had a big enough place to live in together and we’d been wanting to buy a house in the area anyway. We found a great townhome near his job and moved in about 6 months before the wedding (to the dismay of my mom) but it was fine with us. We already had a dog together and had decided what furniture to buy so it wasn’t really a big transition all in all. I have never been a big fan of the drugs that are produced by big pharmaceutical companies. Curious George

My brother has given his frequent big footed visitor a name. He calls him, Curious George. George is not a afraid to frequent areas that are more densely populated than I would have guessed. It seems this has been his territory for many years. He seems to like to follow that same trails that he probably has trekked for many years. The area used to be unpopulated but has been built up during the past several years. It seems that George has cautiously kept watch while the structures were being built.

After my last blog update about finding Sasquatch tracks in the snow last February, my brother decided to go out and try to back track the trail that he had found to see if he could find any more prints. To his surprised, he found a large set of prints leading right up to the edge of his house.

My wife and I are headed to the Minneapolis area tomorrow to celebrate my granddaughter's high school graduation. Spring Training!

The biggest reason I'm obsessed with spring has got to be baseball. I played minor-league ball for several years, and of course it's still tight dream of mine to one day hit the majors. Thankfully, I have the means to go to as many games as I want, and this year I'm even going to make it to spring training! I recently came across a Orlando wireless internet online offer, and use my wireless Internet to bid on eBay on the package that included two tickets to spring training, which starts in just a couple of weeks. I'! m taking my best buddy from college, and we’re making a whole week out of it, including eating out, shopping for baseball memorabilia, and of course watching the training. I think my team is going to be really good this year, but I won't know until I get down there and see the boys throwing the ball around. This is going to be the best Spring I've ever had!

My younger brother, the one who has had most of the recent encounters, used to have a an above ground swimming pool at his house in Illinois. It was great, fun when my kids and I would go visit him and their cousins during the summers.

Question Answered

The subject of my last topic on Sasquatch was whether they migrate south during the winter or find a relatively warm place to hunkered down during the long Minnesota winters. We had been leaning towards the idea of migration but the representative from the Bigfoot research organization believed that they hung around.

That question was conclusively answered about a month ago in mid February, at least for our local population. We found a set of tracks in the deep snow at a location where we had found tracks before. Although the tracks were probably a couple of weeks old, it seems highly unlikely that they could have been made by anything other than a Bigfoot.

The tracks were located in two foot deep snow that had melted and then been covered with another few inches of snow again. As a result, they did not show much detail but the prints showed a consistent left-right pattern with the usual offset in one location and a stride in excess of six feet while going up a slight grade. I know of no other animal that could have left that kind of trail. Clearly the results of a very large bi-pedal animal. We also found several very large impressions in the snow along the trail which indicated that the animal had either lain down or crouched down in the snow.

The subject of what they would eat during the winter is easily answered when you drive down the roads around here and observe the multitude of road kill that has been fresh frozen during the winter. Large numbers of deer and other animals are easy pickings for both Bigfoot and the many other predatory animals that spend the winters here. I have even seen many bald eagles recently who would tend to fly south during the winter to open water.

I will admit the evidence of one animal here during February does not conclusively answer the question. Some may hang around their summer home range during the winter and some may be snow birds but this proves, at least, that some do hang around here during the winter time.

Watching Zaboomafoo With My Son

My favorite show to watch on television about animals is Zoboomafoo. This is a fun show that teachers preschoolers about animals. I really enjoy watching it on directv with my son. He loves Zamboo and learning about all of the animals they introduce. When we get home from school we watch this show everyday. It is one great educational and fun way to learn about animals. It is suited toward preschoolers, but it is one show as a parent that I can sit down, enjoy, and learn along with my son.

Every day they have a specific animal they are talking about, sometimes they have even more than one animal. The two men that host the show are really knowledgeable about the animals. They take real animals and introduce them on the show. There is also a lot of real life photo shots of the animals in their natural habitat.

This show is on Sprout and PBS. It is another great addition to this network that is made especially for preschoolers. If you are looking for a fun and educational show about animals, Zoboomafoo is surely one of my favorites.

Where Do They Go in the Winter?

After all of the signs of Big Foot in this area last summer and fall, it still remains a mystery where they go during the winter. With all the deep snow around at this time of the year, it would seem that their unique tracks would be easy to spot. It seems they leave very few hints during the winter time as to their whereabouts. Of all the pictures and imprints of tracks that I have seen rarely are they found in the snow.

Two theories seem to prevail. The first is that they migrate south to a warmer climate for the winter and then return in the spring. There seems to be some evidence to support this thesis but I would think that there would be more sightings and track evidence during these times of the year. If they were traveling long distances during those time of the year there would seem to be more tracks and sightings, especially when crossing major highways.

The other theory is that they bed down for the winter in caves or low lying spruce stands where they may have stored up food to last them the winter. It almost seems that they are very wary of the fact that when they leave a trail in the snow they are easy to follow.

Maybe they are a lot like people. Some are snowbirds that head south for the winter and others like to stay and tough it out. Regardless, I find this an interesting subject to study as we continue to try to learn more about these mysterious creatures of the forest.

In the Light of Day

The next morning my brother called to tell me about his fascinating encounter of the previous evening. I drove over to his place to help him investigate the area. Sure enough we found a clear trail in the exact direction which the sounds that he heard had come from. Because of the nature of the surface of the forest floor and the newly fallen carpet of leaves, it was difficult to get any really good photos of the prints but the two shown below actually turned out better than I had anticipated.

There were several other less distinguishable prints along the trail that showed the presence of a large and heavy foot which had crushed several rotten adjacent branches and large areas of green lichens which had been freshly flattened. There were several leaf covered prints which had left deep impressions in the underlying soft ground. I could feel the distinct human like shape of the prints by putting my number fourteen size shoe into the depressions. In a swampy area, we found one print that must have sunk into the ground four to six inches and then filled with water.

Neither of us were left with any doubt as to what had made the tracks. We both hope to have more encounters in the future with our big and hairy friends.

Most Intriguing Sasquatch Encounter To Date

It is beginning to look like my younger brother has become a virtual Bigfoot magnet. Recently, on his way back home from my sister's house, he was listening to the sounds in the woods when he began to noticed something unusual. Now that the leaves have fallen from the trees, sounds in the woods carry much further. This was a particularly dark and windless evening so even though he couldn't see much the clarity of the sounds he was hearing were unmistakable.

He was walking down his driveway and had stopped to listen to the shuffling of some deer through a nearby ravine. It was then that he began to hear the slow and methodical sush, sush, sush, sound of a clearly bipedal gate. He estimated the distance to the creature to be about fifty to seventy yards when he first began to hear it. It seemed to be moving directly towards him as the footsteps grew louder and louder. When the sounds got to within about twenty to thirty yards, they suddenly stopped.

My brother thought that the creature had sensed his presence and had stopped there just a few yards away. After a few minutes of silence, my brother decided to see if he could get a response from the creature and made a few yelps and whistling sounds. At first there was no response but after trying several different combinations of noises he finally heard a kind of soft screeching noise from the direction of creature. When he later listened to some of the sounds recorded on the BFRO website, he said that the sound was a close match to one of them except that it was much softer and closer.

Then the creature seemed to turn around and start walking back in the direction where it had come from. My brother decided to try again to get the creatures attention. He picked up a small log and rapped it against a tree. The creature then stopped walking again but gave no response. After trying several single knocks, he tried a double knock. That was when the creature responded with a double call to match his double knock. My brother did two more knocks and again the creature responded with two calls as if to imitate him.

The third time my brother made two knocks, the creature again responded only this time adding a sound which my brother described like that of the cartoon character the Tasmanian Devil. After that there were no more responses. My brother then decided to go into the house to get a flashlight to see if he could see what was making the noises. By the time he returned, he could find no traces of the source of the sounds. The next day we would confirmed beyond a shadow of a doubt the reality of his encounter.

Years ago I once owned a ford escort for a couple of years. It was a pretty good little car and although I had a few problems with it, overall it was pretty economical. I had to replace the timing belt and water pump but other than that I had no major problems with it.

I drove it back and forth from Minneapolis to Illinois to visit my daughter and also drove it long distances while I was a sales rep. The main shortcoming for me was the fact that I am a big guy and the Escort was a small car. It was not the most comfortable car that I have ever owned.

In recent years, I have driven a Chrysler New Yorker and Chrysler Concorde. They were a little more costly to drive and maintain but were very comfortable for me and well worth the extra cost.

BFRO Pictures

My contact at the BFRO is a real fanatic when it comes to chasing big foot. He spends all of his spare time in the pursuit of evidence that will prove this mythical creature to be real. The first time he visited me, he showed me extremely impressive pictures of footprints, trail cam and night vision video which was very convincing.

The picture below is one of a trail of thirty tracks that were recently found in this area. The print was about fourteen inches long and six inches wide. Small compared to the nineteen inch monster that we found recently but impressive nevertheless. The most convincing aspect is the clearly defined toe prints. Also impressive is the obvious depth of the track. The composition of the gravel surface is nearly identical to that where our nineteen inch track was found. The weight of this animal would have had to been in the eight hundred to one thousand pound range at a minimum.

The most fascinating picture that he showed me was one that I can't share with you because the individual who took the picture on a trail cam has not agreed to release it yet for public consumption. The picture appeared to be the chin and nose of a sasquatch. Apparently, the creature had ripped the trail cam from the tree and accidentally photographed a portion of its face before discarding the camera and moving on. My BFRO contact is currently trying to get the picture released for public viewing. If that happens I will certainly post a copy of it here.

Gold Bars

How would you like to own a few gold bars? I would be really happy even if I only had one. Honestly I have never seen first hand what a gold bar looks like. I have seen pictures but that is still different than if you get a chance to see and hold it at the same time. I guess I will only get the feel of it if I buy one. I am hoping that I can afford to buy some soon. I am planning on using gold as my retirement savings. Labor Day BFRO Camp Out

This Labor day weekend a group from the Bigfoot Field Research Organization (BFRO) is planning a camp out in our area here in northern Minnesota. Since we found the tracks of what was undoubtedly a large Bigfoot a few weeks ago on a nearby road, the BFRO has become interested in investigating this area. I think the reason they are so interested is not so much that there is considerable evidence of Bigfoot activity in this area as the fact that the print we found was one of the biggest that they have ever found in Minnesota.

They have invited me to join them and show them the area and further evidence that we recently discovered. It should be a very interesting outing to say the least.

More Signs of Sasquatch

Now that we have become aware of the fact that there are Bigfoot residing in this area, we have started actively looking for signs when we are in the woods or an area where they might be expected to be active. Again, my brother and a few other people were out picking blueberries recently and they came across more signs that a Bigfoot or family of Bigfoot had recently been in the area.

Getting good pictures of prints is very difficult. Contrast and depth perception are often lacking in a two dimensional photograph. The photographs I have included in this blog are no exception. The pine needle floor of the forest offers a very poor surface to photograph. As a result these picture don't do justice to the actual prints that we found. Live observation of this area showed a very clear and obvious imprint of a very large creature with man like feet and toes that had been squatting next to or leaning against a tree. It appeared to have been leaning forward, putting some of its weight on finger knuckles which made imprints in front of the main foot tracks.

As I mentioned above the poor contrast makes it difficult to discern the outline of the prints in the picture above. From this angle the toes would be pointing toward the camera and the heel impressions are more visible.

The above photograph best shows the left front toe print near the end of the tape measure. The right print is less visible between the tape measure and my nephew. In this photograph the toes are pointing away from the camera.

As I said before the prints were very deep and indicative of being made by a very large animal. In comparison, our footprints in the area, made almost no impression whatsoever in the soft and spongy forest floor. There were multiple other signs in the immediate area and some appeared to be from a juvenile or number of juvenile animals. First hand observation of the other signs added to our conviction that we were in fact looking at Bigfoot tracks. I would have included more of these photographs in this blog but, as I said earlier, the pictures don't really do them justice.

The above photograph is from the same location as the previous but with the tape measure removed. It more clearly shows the left toe print just below the twig in the upper left corner of the photo. Unfortunately, the outline, depth and contour of the tracks were not nearly as discernible as was the case with the live observation.

Bigfoot have been observed grazing in blueberry patches on multiple occasions in the past. The fact that these signs and prints were found within a few feet of a very large wild blueberry patch was not surprising.

This is a picture of an imprint that we found within the blueberry patch itself. It was very similar in size and shape to several of the prints we found in the grass next to the first prints we found on the gravel road.

This photograph is the same as the one above only I have my size 14 in the middle of it for perspective.

By the way, the wild blueberries were delicious. Much better than the store bought kind.

Gold Coins

If I were to choose between gold coins and silver coins, I would definitely go with the gold. Unfortunately, for someone like me, who is currently living from paycheck to paycheck, it would be difficult to set aside enough money to buy gold. Even so, silver is a very good alternative. It has been called the poor man’s gold and I think I might start with that. My hubby tells me that he thinks that silver is actually a better choice because it is both a monetary and industrial metal and the supply is even tighter than gold. He thinks that silver will eventually rise at a much faster rate than gold. Actually both silver and gold are safe, stable and portable investments, especially in these tough economic times. Over the past ten years nothing has beat gold, silver and other precious metal investments.

Big Foot in Northern Minnesota?

A few weeks back I got a call from my brother who was up here at his summer lake home. He told me that I was not going to believe what he was about to tell me. He said that he and his wife had been out taking a walk that morning and discovered a set of foot prints that almost certainly had to have been made by a Big Foot. The animal, also known as Sasquatch (an original native American name) is believed to be a large primate that walks upright on two feet and resembles a man except for the fact that it ranges from 7 to 10 feet plus in height and is covered with long dark hair. Although most scientists will not admit that they believe Big Foot is a real creature, the evidence for the existence of the animal is, in my opinion, overwhelming. I have been a believer for years, and now more than ever, since since this most recent incident.

The pictured track above was 19" long by 8" wide by more than 1.25" deep. There were a series of several more tracks involved which were proof that a vary heavy animal had quiet recently passed through the area. Being an engineer, I was able to do a crude soil compression test which prove to me that the animal probably weighed in excess of 1000 lbs. When we reported the incident to several different Big Foot organizations I was surprised to find that the activity in this general area was on-going and frequent.
